A fabulous antique Arts and crafts necklace C. 1900, featuring a cross pendant crowned with seven cabochon Moonstones which are approx. 1.50ct each.
The Arts and Crafts movement breathed new life into the design of jewellery in the late 19th century. It advocated a revival of traditional handicrafts which used romantic, folk decoration with an influx of colour and sparkle to counteract the rather mechanised industrialisation of modern design.
Moonstones have a lovely ghostly hue and were once seen as an amulet of protection to travellers, a gift of lovers for passion, a channel for prophecy, and a path to wisdom.
The gallery and chain are fashioned in Yellow Gold and stamped 9ct.
A unique antique find that looks fabulous around the neck.
